Yoga Retreat Program

Yoga health retreats are unique and anyone desiring to touch base with the self and enjoy a special break – singles, couples yoga or partners wanting to rejuvenate. Create the opportunity to reflect and re-evaluate life from a different perspective while practicing yoga and meditation daily, improving core strength with Pilates and cleansing the body of toxins with fresh organic juices and beautifully prepared vegetarian meals. Enjoy time out for yourself to really relax and rejuvenate at a deeper level to restore balance and inner harmony.

We provide individual attention and assistance to all students during classes, particularly if you have injuries or special health needs. It’s all about your personal yoga practice and doing what is appropriate for your body and needs at the time. The classes are taught in a safe and practical way using props when necessary to help open the body i.e. morning vinyasa style (a fluid yoga sequence working a little deeper using the breath to warm up and cleanse the body of toxins) and a more restorative practice for the afternoons to bring balance and replenishment. This combination of yoga is designed for all levels of experience with age, health and lifestyle fully considered.

Byron Bay Yoga Retreat Activities range from catching a breathtaking sunrise along Tallow Beach, surfing, cycling on the bike trails through the rain forest, tennis or simply relaxing and soaking up the serenity of the environment. CBD of Byron is only 10mins drive to shopping and main beach.

Accommodation

Tallows Beach Cottages are peaceful and serene, the property is located only 15mins away from  many fantastic shops, day spas, restaurants, attractions and the main beach. The self contained cottages are nicely set in 30 areas of secluded bushland right next to beautiful Tallows Beach which faces Byron’s famous Lighthouse. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms with shared bathroom, open kitchen, dining and loungeroom with tv and large verandah. All are airconditioned and are light and airy with nice decor. A Single booking is 2 people per cottage. Twin share booking is 2 people in one bedroom, sharing with one other in other bedroom. (3 people sharing cottage) If there is a group of 3 guests we can accommodate in a new cottage which offers individual bathrooms with each bedroom and guests share living area of the cottage.

Yoga Retreat Teachers & Facilitators

Sue Hawkins is a Senior Qualified Yoga Instructor who has been practicing for over 26 years and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest level E-RYT500. Sue has studied Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra Yoga, Therapy and Partner Yoga. She furthered her studies travelling to India to deepen her knowledge of yoga asanas, pranayama, Ayurveda and yoga philosophy. She is the founder and director of Byron Bay Yoga, now Yoga Health Retreats and has been running retreats for over 10 years. Sue has instructed on teacher trainings, run workshops and is passionate about running retreats regularly in Byron Bay, Australia and internationally.

Sue’s vision is to reach as many people as possible from all backgrounds and levels of experience to provide the opportunity for wellness, personal growth and a life changing experience.

Judy Leane, Qualified Pilates Instructor, physiotherapist, exercise scientist and personal trainer. Judy brings extensive knowledge and experience to her classes teaching in a fun, yet precise way, catering to all levels. The fusion of Yoga and Pilates will give you tremendous body awareness, creating core strength and stability.

Jacquie Sullivan, Yoga Assistant, is a qualified yoga teacher and works as a yoga assistant on the Byron Bay Retreats. Jacquie brings a unique approach to her assisting style with a nurturing and caring energy, offering support and guidance throughout each yoga class. She has studied Ashtanga Yoga for 7 years and has worked with many renowned yoga teachers in her field. Jacquie is now furthering her studies in Kinesiology.

Josie Cain, Co-ordinator, is an experienced Yoga, Pilates and Personal Trainer. Josie has a wealth of knowledge and experience and will be teaching some yoga and aerobic sessions as well as co-ordinating the retreat schedules, assisting  participants during the retreat with any requests, no matter how big or small! Josie is an important team member and effortlessly provides support for the retreat to run smoothly.

David English, Massage Therapist, “Sugata” is a very experienced massage therapist who has been practising for over 20 years. His style is deeply nurturing, offering remedial and relaxation sessions using a highly intuitive method which is deeply relaxing and soothing from his many years of experience. He seems to intuitively know how to unblock and release built up tension in the body. Yoga Health Retreats provides a 1hr complimentary remedial massage session with Sugata and he is available for additional bookings during the retreat. Rachel Scoltock, Angel Psychic, Healer, Reiki Master. A reading session with Rachel can bring about enormous shifts in your outlook & energy. With a focus on healing Rachel tunes into your Angelic guides to gain an overview of your situation using Angel Oracle cards, and her own clairvoyant and clairsentient ability. You will be given guidance as to how to move towards that which you want and also assisted in understanding the deeper aspects of your journey. Each session culminates in an energy clearing whereby you are released of limiting and painful cords that may be blocking your progress.

Arrive from 2.00pm onwards and settle into your accommodation, enjoy a refreshing swim in the ocean or just relax in a hammock on your veranda. We meet at 3.30pm for an informal introduction and yoga class. Check out time on the last day is 10am from your cabin. The retreat closes at 11.30am. Transport and direction details will be sent to you at time of registration. Transfers can be arranged to and from the retreat.

Cancellation Conditions

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve your booking. The full balance is due one month prior to the retreat, otherwise your booking may be cancelled. Requests for changing retreat dates are at the discretion of Yoga Health Retreats and incur a fee of $100.

We provide a nurturing and safe environment and our program is thoughtfully planned, but no responsibility will be taken for any injuries incurred during the retreat. Medical history forms are to be completed before each retreat, however we also advise you to consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. Modifications are given to students with special needs.
